Background:The anfred von Richthofen was a heavily armored aircraft carrier with a speed of 32 knots and a 50mm armored flight deck. While no armor-piercing rounds can penetrate her flight deck, large-caliber 50mm-piercing high explosive rounds can hit her from any distance. Her hull was equipped with 60 mm icebreakers, a turtleback armor scheme, 14 km of base ship concealment, and thick armor belts (145-150 mm). Although based on the hull of Frederick the Great, Manfred von Richthofen was covered with standard 19 mm carrier plates.
As with other German carriers, Manfred von Richthofen’s secondary armor range and spread were improved. However, her secondary armor had poor firing angles and required a lot of port side to get all the armors working. Due to the poor firing angle and the weakness of carrier hulls at close range, investing in a secondary arm is not recommended.
She is a hypothetical variant of a heavy German aircraft carrier based on the hull of an unfinished H-39 class battleship. It is assumed that when construction of the battleship ceases, her hull will be fully formed and her main propulsion and electrical plant machinery installed. In this configuration, she will be one of the largest ships in the world, second only to the Japanese Shinano.
