Background: The MH-60J helicopter is a multi-role, twin-engine, medium-range helicopter operated by the U.S. Coast Guard for a variety of missions, including search, law enforcement, military readiness, and marine environmental protection. Selected as the replacement for the HH-3F Pelican helicopter, it is based on the U.S. Navy’s SH-60 Seahawk helicopter. Compared to its HH-3F predecessor, the HH-60J is lighter, faster, and equipped with more advanced electronics and a more powerful engine.
